Thankful for My Car

carI am not a car person. I don’t get excited about cars. I don’t really notice cars. In fact, I climbed into a car of a similar color and shape (to me, anyway) as my Kia Soul in the Weight Watchers parking lot a few weeks ago. My husband says a Jeep Patriot is NOTHING like a Kia Soul, but…I guess I was distracted. And, no, I wasn’t looking at my phone (or, apparently, the vehicles). I get lost easily, don’t really enjoy driving, and lose my car in parking lots all the time. But…I am so thankful for my car (Byron). He runs. He gets me to libraries and schools to visit with kids. license plateHe gets me to conferences and bookstores to hang out with writers and book lovers. He gets me to the gym and Taco Bell. He has built-in GPS to keep me from getting hopelessly lost. AND he has fabulous poetry license plate frames (gifts from Randy)! I am not a car person. I have been known to exclaim, “Can we just go back to horses, please?” But I know the truth. Byron allows me freedom, and life would be much harder without him. I’m thankful for my car.

  1. I feel the same way about cars, generally. But I have always had a fondness for a corvette stingray! I love your license plate frame.

    1. Every once in a while, I see a car I love, but it’s rare–and usually more about color:)

    1. Love this! If I park too far away from my usual aisle at the gym, I wander around looking for it, aimlessly.

  2. There are umpteen million silver cars in our area, and as I was visiting a friend and standing in front of her house to leave, another friend dropped by… We said hello and talked briefly, then I went to leave. Now, we have a Honda Insight, they have a Toyota Prius, but… silver! I don’t know where my brain went. She was standing RIGHT BY her car, and I got into it… looked at the cow-skin seat covers… and got out, sputtering. We laughed at me for a good ten minutes.

All this to say, it happens. That car just died, and we have a new one (which I haven’t yet named), but I’m grateful for my car, too… and even more grateful that this one is a shade of blue that isn’t quite as common!
