It’s always a good time to be grateful, but it’s likely a topic you’re focusing on right now before Thanksgiving. Here’s a little poem from my (out-of-print) book of fall poetry, Shrinking Days, Frosty Nights (Capstone Press/A+ Books).
And here’s a sheet you can use to write your own thankful poems with your students!

fun, fun poem that children will love and relate to!
Laura, I love this sweet poem that can be easily used as a prompt for students to write their own poem. 🙂
It is just right for writing with young writers before the holiday, Laura. I’ll share it with the grand girls!
What a delightful poem, Laura. I think I will ask my sweet little Sierra to tell me what she is thankful for after I read your poem.
Love this! Every year, we ask everyone gathered at our Thanksgiving table what we each are thankful for. This year, we’ll have a couple of new guests, as my sons are bringing their significant others. I’m looking forward to their contributions! And, no, you did not cheat…..IMO, it’s a miracle you posted! Your poem will inspire many young writers! Thanks.
