Hi, educators! I usually post on Wednesdays with news and curriculum connections to my books, but I’m too excited to wait. I’ve got three (yes, three) books coming out in March 2023, and Mr. Schu is hosting a cover reveal for one of them today! You can check out Finding Family: The Duckling Raised by Loons and hear how illustrator Alexandria Neonakis and I finished 3 sentence starters from John here.
This picture book is my very first narrative nonfiction book. I have a couple of narrative books that have big nonfiction elements to them but also have fictional elements, but this one is straight-up nonfiction and straight-up narrative. I can’t wait for it to hatch on March 7, 2023! Meanwhile, please waddle on over to John’s blog to see the cover! While you’re marking books on your to be read shelf, don’t forget to add John’s This Is a Story, also coming in March 2023!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
Love that cover, Laura! Alexandria Neonakis is wonderful. Congrats on the avalanche of 2023 books!
Thanks, Karen. It’s exciting–and a little overwhelming :>) Alexandria’s art is just lovely!
This looks like it will be a very special book. Congratulations!
Congratulations on your new books! I love the cover! The loon looks realistic, and I the fluff on the duckling looks so soft I want to touch it. I am looking forward to reading this book. I love loons; the idea of a loon raising a duckling for real is a great idea for a book.
