Poem of the Day: Cyclops (by Bobbi Katz)

April 12, 2010 By Laura

Cyclops

I’ve been in sunny Sicily
where the cranky Cyclops roam
with one huge eye in their huge heads
and dreadful mouths that foam.
They rip green olives off the trees,

to spit out when they speak.

So if you go to Sicily
and have the rotten luck
to meet a cranky Cyclops,
be prepared to duck.

The art and design by Adam McCauley add a whole new level of interest to this book. Check out this book and share it with all the elementary school students you know…and be prepared to duck in case they shoot out their gum while laughing.
