It’s February 10, time for 10 for 10! This awesome event created by Cathy Mere and Mandy Robek lets us celebrate nonfiction picture books–woohoo! Go to Enjoy and Embrace Learning to see the roundup or add your own post!
Here are 10 nonfiction picture books that employ unusual formats or elements or structures! These are both new and old books–hope you like them.
Poetry and nonfiction–fantastic!
Postcards, facts, and story seamlessly entwined–lovely!
Equations with words instead of numbers? I had so much fun writing this!
Love the mileage tracker for keeping track of what is happening when!
A first-person history of story? Yes, please!
A coffee table book full of amazing photos–like Candid Camera for Serengeti wildlife!
An oldie, but goodie. I love the use of the refrain here!
April’s rhyming picture books about the season’s are fantastic!
Who wouldn’t want to learn facts from an animal’s diary?
Because who hasn’t pretended to be a t. Rex?
What a great collection of books! So happy to see your Snowman-Cold=Puddle new release included, Laura!
I’m familiar with each one, but “My Awesome Summer”, Laura. Great list & will look for it!
I’m always fascinated by the many structures of writing. Nonfiction certainly has some interesting examples. There are a few titles here I need to check out. Thanks for joining the conversation!
Thank you for joining us today! Please leave a comment on my blog – Enjoy and Embrace Learning so we can archive this wonderful collection. I’m in trouble – I only know 2/10 books from your list and must order the last one for my dinosaur lover in my classroom. I can’t wait to add poetry to our dinosaur collection.
Can’t believe I forgot to leave a Comment and link–done! Also, FOSSIL BY FOSSIL is awesome, but not poetry. For dinosaur poetry, though, check out Douglas Florian’s DINOTHESAURUS (https://amzn.to/2SD2aJr) and Lee Bennett Hopkins DIZZY DINOSAURS (easy reader anthology: https://amzn.to/2USWhVP)!
