Hi PFers! Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
I’m mostly offline for May, and I’m missing you all. I wanted to just say that I’ve read some wonderful poetry books lately–you’ve probably seen these talked about in more depth on other blogs, but if you haven’t seen the books themselves, I highly urge you to skedaddle to your indie bookshop, Amazon, or your library to find these wonderful offerings!
ALL of these books are fabulous! I have At the Pond at my elbow right now as I look out at our little retention pond, so I’ll share this spread. Honestly, even if I didn’t love David Elliott’s poetry so dang much, I’d have to have this one just for the art by Amy Schimler-Safford. You can see both the words and art are spectacular.
And for lots more wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with Carmela over at Teaching Authors! They’re always sharing interesting, useful ideas at that glog.
David and I were chatting over the weekend, and I menioned how much I loved At the Pond – as does my 8-year-old daughter. Beautiful, inside-out and all the way through!
He’s one of my favorite poets!
Laura, you and Matt are so right. This book looks like an amazing one for toddlers and elementary students. I know my grandgirls would love to read this book. Thanks for sharing David’s book with us.
Thank you for the suggestions! At the Pond does indeed look great.
I love David Elliott’s poetry and can’t wait to get my copy of At the Pond!
I agree – the words and art are both delightful!
This looks lovely. Monet would enjoy it, I’m sure!
I have read At The Pond & Amy’s book, Laura, not yet but need to read the others. Enjoy your time away!
Looking forward to At the Pond – already on my to read list. Thanks!
And you’re going to love SERENGETI too! Enjoy your May-time away!
The poem and art work so well together. Both are lovely!
I’m fortunate to have three of the four books here, just have to skedaddle for Amy’s book. I had lots of fun reviewing David’s critter-filed pond book, thanks Laura!
Gorgeous! I keep hearing great things about it…must get this book!
Thanks for the suggestions, Laura. I’m definitely going to have to check this book out! What a beautiful collaboration. Enjoy your time away 🙂
I’ve been really enjoying the perspectives in Imperfect II, Laura, especially in your poem. How fun to have our work appear in the same anthology!
