Digital Collages Based on Water Can Be…

March 18, 2020 By Laura

Okay, some of you might be tired of hearing how wonderful Rogers Elementary School is (here’s the overall description of my visit, and here’s the 2nd-grade music program inspired by Lion of the Sky), and in what cool ways they used my books over the course of a year! But here’s one more. And, frankly, with all the disruption and fear caused by COVID-19, I think celebrating books and creativity is the perfect thing to share today.

Just before my visit, Technology/Media Literacy Specialist Megan Bateman emailed me:

Your book Water Can Be…was a good fit for cross-curricular integration with our fourth grade water unit.  Please enjoy these collages (inspired by your book) that the fourth grade students created in my Media/Technology class.
She sent me four cool videos of digital collages! Here’s one I have permission to share.

I love how each student’s viewpoint and personality comes through in their choices of fonts, images, and words. Thank you, Megan and fourth-graders!

MAY NEWS

All 3 of my 2023 books are out now! Thank you to everyone who's celebrated with me, shared the books, or read/reviewed them. <3

Right now, I'm recovering from National Poetry Month! I'm also working on 2 tricky picture book revisions, and I'm preparing for a bunch of speaking events and storytimes! Join Yvonne Pearson and I for two loon-themed outdoor storytimes on June 6 and August 1. And on July 14, I'll be storying up a storm at Robert Trail Library! Hope to see you there!
