[happy news] Whee! The Journal of Children’s Literature!

I’m super excited and humbled to be in the Fall 2013 issue of the Journal of Children’s Literature, co-edited by Miriam Martinez,?Jonda McNair,?and?Sharon O’Neal! And look at the TOC image below to see which other poet whose work I so admire is in there with one of his classic poems, too! Whee! Oh, hey–and University of Minnesota professor Lee Galda has the first article in the journal, too. Must get reading!

    • Thanks, Margaret! I think you have to join NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) to be able to subscribe. Don’t think you can get individual copies.

  3. WOW!! Congratulations, Laura. Two honors for two fabulous poems from one fabulous book in just a couple of days!! (Talking Poetryminute.org!) Waiting for the third piece of the good news trifecta!! My Sophia just recited “Calling All Readers” for me at her request yesterday!! Love that poem and can’t wait for my copy to arrive. I belong to the CLA (Children’s Literature Assembly) through NCTE, Margaret and not sure there are extras, but I bet there are!

    Think I finally know this poem by heart myself. Laura’s right! “There’s no friend like a book!” (and I would add most children’s poets, too!) Oh and a shout out to a former Children’s Poet Laureate, too!!! You are keeping some wonderful company these days!

    • Thanks, Janet. I have been absolutely THRILLED to have two poems in JCL and also two poems on PoetryMinute.org. Aw, Sophia–that sweetie. You bring so much poetry joy into students’ lives, Janet–thank you for that! (And, yes, I AM keeping some wonderful company–woot!)
