I shared this book once before, but I wanted to share Last Laughs (Charlesbridge, 2012, by J. Patrick Lewis and Jane Yolen) again as Halloween is closing in, since it’s the perfect time to enjoy a little ghoulishness!
Barracuda’s Bite-size Demise
My teeth were vicious;
my bite was hateful.
A great white met me–
the date was fateful.
The shark was hungry,
and I was baitful.

Hehehehe.
The lovely and talented Irene Latham at Live Your Poem has the?Poetry Friday roundup. Go enjoy (and check out Irene’s newly released Don’t Feed the Boy! I can’t wait to read this picture book).
P.S. PF regulars, I’m out of town this week–if you don’t see me in the roundup, would someone add my link? I’ll try to get online to do that, but just in case…thanks!
LOL! Can’t wait to see this collection. Pat’s the best.
Yes! And I think you have another collection of his on your post this week! Need to catch up on my reading now that I’m back in town. Um, after I unpack and catch up on 300+ emails…

Happy traveling, and thanks for getting your link on the Roundup! I’m enamored of “bite size demise.” It’s got my wheels spinning… thank you, Laura, for sharing! xo
Ooh, hope to see a predatory result!

How does he hit the nail on the head every time? This is hilarious! “We have toi get that” says Little Brother!
I know. If he weren’t so likeable, his constant wonderful output could be a little annoying, ya know?

I love the cover of this book. So funny — it’s dark and cute at the same time.

Boys, in particular, gravitate (ha!) toward the gruesome illustrations and humor in this book!
