Last night, I was working on materials for an online class I’m teaching, and my husband walked in. "I opened a package for you by mistake," he said. He gets tons of packages every day, so when UPS, FedEx, DSL, et al. come calling, the packages usually get put in a pile for Randy without really being looked at.
I wasn’t expecting anything.
"What was it?" I asked.
He pulled out this from behind his back:
My first bound copy of Stampede! I have received tons of my books from educational publishers, and I’m usually too busy to do more than take a quick glance at them. But this!
I snatched it up and paged slowly through the entire book. It’s beautiful. I say that with no bias, of course:>) Steven Salerno’s artwork is even more clean and gorgeous than in the color proofs I saw. My editor at Clarion had sent it with a lovely note and a few copies of the promotional postcard they’ve been handing out at ALA. |
This feeling really does make it all worth it. Thanks for letting me share it with you.
