Love the ‘charm’ of Charm Bracelet & that it came from your 15 words or less, Laura. The book is really special. Thanks for the links too.

This is one of my most-favorite poems by Charles and one of my most-favorite poems in the anthology too! How neat that it started with one of your photos! Thank you, Laura. I’m tweeting this very PFA informative post now!
Wonderful! Perhaps I could share one of YOUR poems from PFA later this fall?
That’s a great idea. Sharing poems written by Amy would be EXCELLENT! ALV POWER!!!!!

Hi Laura, this poem made me think about the miniature reminders of things that are dear to me – the tangibles and tiny details that make up the fabric of our lives and loves. 🙂
Beautifully said, Myra:>)

Hi to all my poetry blogger “friends” whom I feel I know and who barely know me. Thank you, thank you for letting me enjoy your connections and learn from you. Sylvia and Janet W. have sent me copies of The Poetry Friday Anthology to use as door prizes when I speak about my poetry-in-the-classroom approach at NYSRA at the end of Oct. THANK YOU!! Several lucky teachers will leave with an EXCELLENT and CHARMING resource. Pat Lewis encouraged me to add new poets to my list of favorites, Heidi at My Juicy Universe told me about the Kidslitosphere and Sylvia handed me her favorite blogs list at last fall’s NCTE in Chicago. LUCKY ME!!! Some day I hope to join you with a blog of my own. But in the meantime, I feast when I can on your wonderful posts and inspiration. As a recently retired teacher who shares about poetry, tutors a little and subs some, my goal is to visit schools to bring the gift of poetry to kids and teachers. I wish more and more teachers would join us and I know that this book and your blogs are a great place to start. In the meantime I volunteer in my community sharing poetry in schools and the library, spreading words like candy!!! And the kids gobble it up. They know instinctively what is good for them, I believe!
That is so inspiring, Janet. We love having you here and are grateful for what you’re doing to spread poetry love to kids and teachers! I was at NCTE last year in Sylvia and Janet’s panel. I wish EVERY teacher could hear them speak. They would all become poetry spreaders, I think! (Are you going to NCTE this year? I know you said recently retired, but you’re obviously still very much involved:>)
Janet F.: I wish I could attend your session at NYSRA because I know it will be fantastic. Hopefully next year! And, yes, please come again to NCTE to hear me and Sylvia (and Laura and Leslea Newman and Amy Ludwig VanDerwater–and Irene Latham and hopefully more PFA poets) speak and read. It will feel like a party! (And we will actually have some little “party favors” to celebrate Poetry Friday!)
I was there in Chicago, I didn’t know who you were, but have learned, happily!!! and will see you in Vegas!! Last year I found the NCTE “poetry group” to be generous, interesting and fun! I have a session at NCTE again this year on Friday. Growing Literate Learners which is a potpourri of presenters who do intereting literacy things with elem. kids! However it was at MarchMadness Poetry where I really started to put the poetry bloggers together!! And THANK YOU for your wonderful blog, Laura!!
Thanks for the kind words, Janet. The poetry bloggers community is wonderful–well, really, the entire kidlitosphere is wonderful. But I’m partial to the poetry bloggers:>) I look forward to meeting you in person at NCTE this year!

Charles’ poem is lovely. What a beautiful revision of a poem inspired by 15 WOL.
Laura, I believe you have a gift for inspiring and encouraging creativity with your imaginative pictures and helpful comments; and in this way, you have led me to several publications. Some were revised 15 WOL less poems. One even came from the book club you did with Susan Taylor Brown one summer. I can’t thank you enough!!!!
Thank you so much, ellie! That means a lot. I always LOVE to hear when a seed planted in 15WOL blooms into something substantial, publishable. What a great treat that is!

We always love working with Charles–such positive energy and poems with so much child-appeal! And for those of you who know him, I think you’ll really enjoy Charles’s poem “Hair”‘ in our e-book P*TAG–maybe you can persuade him to share it with you!
Yeah, that’s a really fun one. You’re so right about his positive energy!

CHARMing choice for today, Laura. Thanks to you and the effervescent Charles for sharing. I’ve turned a few teachers here onto the anthology and can’t wait to hear how kids respond. Even sold a copy from my booth at my art show last weekend!
YAY to booth sales! Let’s raise a toast to many more!! By the way, I think your new poetry art is so neat–will definitely visit your Etsy shop for gifts this holiday season. And I love hearing that you taught a bunch of people how to use that fancy “typewriter” contraption!
Hehe:>) And excellent. Glad that your art show went well. What an adventure!

Yes, I love that it’s a 15 word challenge poem too – and I marvel that it is so complete and eloquent regardless of constraint. Great to hear about the Anthology’s news too 🙂
Thanks, Marjorie!

This is such a sweet and relatable poem — kind of like how Charles is sweet and relatable! Thanks for sharing another one of his gems. 🙂
Exactly:>)
Gosh. My face is turning redder than a beefsteak tomato. 🙂

I really need to get my hands on this anthology. I love the challenge of communicating with few words (like in Haiku) and this one by Charm Bracelet is very visual! Thanks for all those links, too!
It really is terrific, Joanna. Of course, the poems aren’t all *quite* this short! But they are short and perfect for sharing:>)
