Usually in April, I’m doing lots of speaking. This year, partially due to my website contact form woes, I’m in town basically the whole month. So, I’m trying to figure out what to do for a poetry celebration. Should I share a poetryaction every day? Write poems based on my doodles (which I haven’t shared here before)? Pick a form and write a new one every day? Do something collaborative with a specific classroom? Share a short imagepoem every day? Not add to all the Poetry Month content and, instead, take time to go around and read other people’s work? Ack! So many choices. I’m open to suggestions!
Plans for National Poetry Month

My students enjoyed doing Amy VanDerwater’s challenge last year with her poems written to well-known tunes. Collaboration would be my vote. My kids were asking.
Oh my gosh–that project of Amy’s was amazing! I loved the riddle-ish aspect of it. I need something fairly simple, and something that I can do a week ahead of time…because there will be a couple of times I won’t be able to post daily without posting ahead, so it works out well to work a week in advance. Hmmm….any specific collaboration ideas? I’m brainstorming…
Imagepoems or doodle poems and yes! We would also love to collaborate. Also, would love a suggestion/form to try and then we can send you some poems we’ve tried…. a few thoughts ….. Kim
Thanks, Kim! I’m going to try to figure this out next week!
Whatever you do, I’ll follow along, Laura, always fun to do. Nice of you to ask!
Thanks, Linda…an idea is percolating!
There was project you did in 2013 that was excellent, except I can’t remember what it was. Some poetry writing deal. Loved it!!!!
