A student of Sylvia Vardell, professor as well as poetry ambassador blogging at Poetry for Children, let me know recently she was creating a review of BookSpeak!, my poetry collection coming out from Clarion this fall. Sylvia gave her an f&g, and the student (not sure if it’s OK to name her, so I won’t at this point) loved it–yay!
She just posted the review on her blog, KDucks Book Reviewer, as well as the words of the opening poem, "Calling All Readers."
I’ll tell you a story
I’ll spin you a rhyme
I’ll spill some ideas—
And we’ll travel through time
You can read the rest of that poem and watch the book trailer she created here. And maybe leave a comment there? I’m so honored at the thought of someone putting that kind of time into thinking about/featuring one of my books! And I love the way she teases the diary acrostic poem: "Secrets are kept between you and the pages."
The Poetry Friday Roundup is at Liz in Ink, where everyone’s been celebrating Liz’ cute new picture book, Noodle & Lou!
