Happy National Poetry Month! Thanks for dropping by my Poem Starter Video party.
Today’s poem comes from GUYKU: A Year of Haiku for Boys?(Houghton Mifflin,?2010), by Bob Raczka. This fantastic book of haiku combines boys and nature to fantastic effect. I love that it’s a boy-friendly collection, but there’s definitely nothing here to exclude girls, either. The poem I’m sharing today is my favorite in the collection, and it perfectly captures one my favorite winter moments.
Winter must be here.

I wish I could see what some boys would think about this poem-such fun! Thanks for so many ideas this month Laura.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN FALL ARRIVES?
Nature’s
morning bite, leaves
Splashed in apricot, crisp
Apples, hayrides, football games … Fall
Is here!

Lovely–I especially like bite and splashed in apricot.
