I found out yesterday through Google Alerts that my poetry book A Fuzzy-Fast Blur: Poems About Pets has been shortlisted for the 2011 Beehive Award (Utah’s Children’s Book Award). Woohoo! Libraries will acquire as many books as they can (it’s a pretty dang long shortlist, with 10 poetry books alone!) and share them with kids, who will grade the books. How fun is that?!
This was a work-for-hire project, so increased sales won’t affect me, but I love the idea that kids across Utah will be exposed to Fuzzy-Fast. It’s usually the most popular out of my Capstone poetry books. And the other poetry books on the shortlist are terrific–congratulations, everyone!
It was nice news for a Monday–especially one that got off to a rocky start with messed-up meeting times and such. Oops.
