5 Reasons You Will Love This Easy Reader
- A friendship story with a kite and a balloon,?and the setting for much of the story is the sky? Bizarre–in a great way! And their whirlwind (hehe) friendship rings true.
- Balloon is a great character. The birthday party’s over, and Balloon is droopy. I think every kid experiences this feeling and can relate.
- The repetition and parallel actions really support beginning readers.
- Drama! There aren’t many easy readers where I think, “Oh, no, how is this going to work out!” But I did with this one. When Kite floats to Earth and Balloon is going up, up, up, it’s very foreboding. And it seems hopeless.
- The final line: “And Kite was there to catch him.” I think this line sums up the friendship theme so beautifully. Being there to catch your friend.

I’m having so much fun reading lots of fabulous easy readers as part of the Cybils panel, and I’m trying to share one or two per week.?If you find these posts useful, please share them with other educators and book people using the social share buttons below. Part of the fun of being nominated for a Cybil is that more people get to hear about your book. Thanks!
Disclaimer: This is MY opinion only! This does not reflect any Cybils discussion nor the opinions of the other Cybils panelists or judges. Perhaps I’ll share some titles everyone else on the panel hates! Perhaps I’ll share ones everyone has fallen in love with. I’ll never tell, and you’ll never know:>)

Thanks, Jennifer. I’m always hesitant since I don’t really do reviews, just try to share a bit of what I love about certain books. Glad you enjoyed it, and ditto on the new author friends. Hope our paths cross in person sometime!
