I’ve been reading and rereading books by the other participants in the Poetry Blast (an upcoming event at ALA Chicago), and one new book I love is I’m Your Bus, by Marilyn Singer, illustrated by Evan Polenghi.
What a fun book! The narrating school bus has such a great voice, like a teacher who’s always bustling around and giving directions but is reassuring and friendly and makes the kids feel secure. Here’s one bit from the book: Watch those backpacks coming through. Hailey, Michael, Hannah, Russ, see you later. –Marilyn Singer, all rights reserved Wonderful rhyming text, charming illustrations–this one should be a big hit, especially as kids head back to school! |
