Days 4 and 5 in Chicago

July 16, 2009 By Laura

Chicago seen through the overhead trellis of the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park

I’m home from ALA and have made the harsh shift back to reality. One day it’s the Newbery – Caldecott – Wilder banquet, then the next it’s the Poetry Blast, and then I’m home cleaning up after a very sick teenager (flu–ugh). Welcome back to your life!

ALA was amazing. There’s no other word for it. Although I’m going to be out of town for the next couple of weeks, I’ll be blogging about ALA a bit before I leave and then some in August, too. For now, though, here are links to my photo albums from the final two days in Chicago.

Day 4 – The Poetry Blast

Day 5 – Millennium Park plus a bit of writing

Overall, the trip was great! I’m so thankful to Clarion for bringing me to Chicago and treating me so nicely! More details to come.

MAY NEWS

All 3 of my 2023 books are out now! Thank you to everyone who's celebrated with me, shared the books, or read/reviewed them. <3

Right now, I'm recovering from National Poetry Month! I'm also working on 2 tricky picture book revisions, and I'm preparing for a bunch of speaking events and storytimes! Join Yvonne Pearson and I for two loon-themed outdoor storytimes on June 6 and August 1. And on July 14, I'll be storying up a storm at Robert Trail Library! Hope to see you there!
