ILA’s 30 Under 30

September 14, 2015 By Laura

Congratulations to the educators, students, and entrepreneurs chosen by the International Literacy Association (ILA) for its first ever 30 Under 30 list—“rising leaders…who already have accomplished so much to transform their classrooms, their communities, and the world.”

I know Dylan Teut, one of the 30, through Facebook, and he is truly so passionate about literacy and children’s books. He’s now director of the Plum Creek Children’s Literacy Festival at Concordia University (Nebraska), and it’s always fun to hear his enthusiasm. And I heard Shiza Shahid speak at ILA in St. Louis in July about her story and the Malala Fund. Wow. Talk about powerful.

Congrats to everyone on this list for this recognition! Reading about you has the wheels spinning in my brain about more actions I can do to promote literacy. 8MIL2NIL!

MAY NEWS

All 3 of my 2023 books are out now! Thank you to everyone who's celebrated with me, shared the books, or read/reviewed them. <3

Right now, I'm recovering from National Poetry Month! I'm also working on 2 tricky picture book revisions, and I'm preparing for a bunch of speaking events and storytimes! Join Yvonne Pearson and I for two loon-themed outdoor storytimes on June 6 and August 1. And on July 14, I'll be storying up a storm at Robert Trail Library! Hope to see you there!
