Back from Fantasyland

August 3, 2009 By Laura

We’re home! I’m just back from a two-week trip to Florida. We spent 2/3 of the time visiting with family, and 4 days at Walt Disney World. We had a great time, an exhausting time, a hot time…and it’s good to be home.

Between ALA and Florida, I was out of town most of July, and now I’ve got a mountain of work to catch up on. I didn’t get any writing done in Florida, or even any thinking about writing. As it should be. And today, I drive my older daughter to camp, which will be about a 6-hour round trip. We leave at 3 this afternoon, and for the first time in weeks, I have a to-do list to work on for my day up to that point.

I’ve missed you guys, but it was a much-needed change of pace. Even though life was just as chaotic and busy on vacation as at home, it was a different kind of chaos. It’s always nice to mix things up a little bit.

Thanks to Susan Taylor Brown for hosting 15 Words or Less every Thursday in July! I’ll be back on the job this Thursday, and I’m looking forward to it. In fact, I’m looking forward to a productive August in general. I hate feeling behind in everything!

February News

Making Mittens?

Maybe you've seen Bernie Sanders and his mittens? Well, they go right along with my exciting news that my 2021 picture book is called If You Want to Knit Some Mittens. Angela Matteson did the amazing, charming art, and the book's available for pre-order now!

Otherwise, I'm just hunkering down for heavy-duty writing time! Hope to have some fun news to share soon, once contracts are signed!
