|After the Polar Bear Plunge
Here’s me and Randy and Maddie after the Polar Bear Swim one morning. Lake Burntside in northern Minnesota is a glacial lake–not only formed by glaciers, but cold, too! Especially at 7:30 a.m. every morning.
|Laura does inkle weaving class for Annabelle
How do I get roped into these things? I ended up taking this class because Annabelle wanted to do this weaving but couldn’t go. So I took the class and taught her (sort of) how to do it.
|Randy in the rowboat
We did kayaking, canoeing, and rowboating all week. I love being on the water!
|Morning hike on the road
I liked to go on morning hikes by myself before anyone was awake (well, the bugs were ALWAYS awake).
|Plunging in for the polar bear swim
Here are all the nuts (except me–I went in after the picture) doing the Polar Bear Plunge.
|Trail to our cabin, Tote’m
Our cabin was set back off the main trail a bit, and was right on the lake.
|Maddie parked in the rocking chair
Maddie loved that rocking chair and would face it toward the lake and park there with her DS or book.
|Wacky counselor skit during the camp auction
Yep, bad skits are a great part of camp. The camp auction raises money for camp and features improv skits built around the donated (by campers) auction items.
|Counselors dancing during a pre-meal song (Waltzing Matilda, I think)
Every meal in the dining hall started with a song or two and then grace.
|Fox we saw as we were walking back from lunch
I saw two otters, two foxes (Randy actually got this picture of one!), countless loons, ducks, a turtle, and more insects than I ever want to see again. Maddie added a snake to that. And there was a bear in camp one night, though we unfortunately missed that excitement.
