| You know how some books break your heart, but in a good way? That’s Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie, by Jordan Sonnenblick.
My favorite thing about this book is that for each of the main characters– Stephen, his little brother Jeffrey, and his mom and dad–there were times I was annoyed with them even though I fell in love with each of them a bit. They were just so real. And the fact that I spent half the book blinking back tears but smiling at the same time. This is one of my favorite novels I’ve read in a while. Thank you to my online student who recommended it and then kept asking, Did you read it? Did you like it? What did you think? I thought it was fantastic! |
