On Monday, August 27th,?I’ll be at the Alphabet Forest in the Minnesota State Fair. “Step inside the Alphabet Forest and discover alphabet activities for all ages. Take pictures with Fair Letters, create alphabet Ferris wheels, add your fair words to the Fair Dictionary and more!?Guests can meet a different author each day in the Alphabet Forest at the Minnesota’s Homegrown Author Showcase.”?My activity is going to involve writing poems with kids using a Wheel-of-Fortune style spinning wheel (thank you, Children’s Literature Network), word tickets, and the fans I had printed with BookSpeak’s cover. I need to make a sample and do all my prep work this week, and I’ll share an example soon!
Laura, I LOVE the fans! Such a great old-fashioned feel to them — timeless, is probably a better word, and how perfect is that for a book of poems?? I’m very interested in your spinning wheel too. Do tell! And have a great time at the fair!!!
THanks, Irene! Fans are popular at the very hot, humid State Fair. Hopefully the kids will like them. I’m going to take pics Monday and will definitely post about how the event goes. Fingers crossed:>)

Laura, you have no idea how much I admire you and your tireless creativity. Nap when you can – but you’ve certainly hit on a lulu of an idea here. I’d pay for one of those fans, they are THE CUTEST. I can imagine middle grade girls coveting them pretty hard, too. Have fun with your Wheel of Poetry. You’ll and your poems will be the best things those kids do all day. ?
Aw, thanks, Tanita. Wait til you see them with kids’ poems written and decorated on the back:>) They were pricey, but I hope they will be something kids will really like.
