Happy Valentine’s Day!
Well, I don’t usually post on Sundays, but I want to share these sweet poems about love and friendship that the kindergartners wrote with me last week. I had 20-30 minutes with each of three classes. The kids and their teachers were awesome, and I loved how enthusiastically they talked about what THEY loved. I used a few different kinds of prompts, all image-based, and we expressed our thoughts on love and friendship. How can these poems not make you smile?
The simple things we should remember to love. Beautiful words.
Aren’t they? :>)
Laura, these are lovely. What image prompts did you do? I learn so much through your blogs, especially when it comes to teaching.
Thank you, Charles! I shared pictures of things like: a rocket blasting off; a leaf-cutter ant carrying a leaf; a little bunny snuggling in a hand; parents cheering at a kids’ event; a rose blooming…Then I’d say, what does this thing DO? (Fly, launch, blast off, etc.) Then I’d say, If love could blast off, where do you think it would blast off to? Or, if love could bloom, etc.? That was one way I like to use image prompts. I LOVE your lemonade poem you sent me. That. Is. Fabulous! Aren’t mentor texts fun?
