A few weeks ago, I shared a few school visit tips on Alexis O’Neill’s phenomenal blog, SchoolVisitExperts.com. I mentioned the posters I send ahead of time, and someone asked if I could share a picture of them, so…
Here’s the front:
And here’s the back:
?
I have these printed?out mini-size, just 8-1/2×11, in full color on nice glossy paper for schools to hang up in the weeks before the event. I usually send 4 or 5 (plus a free copy of a couple of my books), and teachers seem to really like them. I guess it’ll be time for me to update mine soon!
These are fantastic. I bet they get everyone geared up for the event. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks, Joanne. I do think the time/money pays off in excited kids:)

What a great idea! And I love how colorful your poster is. It’s sure to get attention.
Thanks, Alexis! I almost always see them on the front doors of the school, the media center doors, and in the hallway by the office–school’s so busy, I try to make it colorful. Though…that just made me think that if you had one beautiful new title you wanted to promote, a single striking image would make a great poster, too. Hmmm…something for me to think about…

Laura, You are so generous and inspiring. I think I need to do this! Yours are beautiful! Thank you again…xo, a.
They’ve really come in handy. I’m thinking of designing a few different ones, maybe with a poem on one, a single book cover on one, etc. Then I would send one of each instead of 4-5 of the same one. Sigh. Adding that to my miles-long list of marketing tasks waiting to be done!

I cannot even tell you — as a teacher, I would have treasured these. As a writer, I’m speechless – — gobsmacked — saying “we’re not worthy!” *bows and backs away*
You really are WORKING those illustrations. These are lovely.
Oh my–it’s not THAT big of a deal–I’m trying to remember what gave me the idea. I’m sure it was someone else’s! Yes on the illustrations. I’ve been awfully lucky with my illustrators:>)

This is perfect, Laura. Thanks for answering my question about these posters. I like all the prep the schools can do, especially having the students generate questions BEFORE you arrive.
Thanks, Tina–for asking! I tried to go back to my post at SchoolVisitExperts.com to remind myself who requested the pictures, but I couldn’t see the comments. I’m so glad it’s useful:>)
