When U.S. publishers attend big book fairs where they sell foreign reprint and translation rights to their U.S. books, they put out catalogs of all the books they’re offering up. Lerner put A Leaf Can?Be… on its catalog cover! And it’s the first book listed in the Spring 2012 Picture Books listing!
However, my understanding is that rhyming books rarely get translated because then the rhyming is lost–or butchered. So, this is probably really about just drawing people in with Violeta Dabija’s gorgeous art! Still, it’s exciting. I want to travel the world, but if I can’t right now, I’d love to have one of my books stand in for me:>)
Thanks to house-mate Kelly Milner Halls for sending me the link, and it’s fun to be in the catalog with her (Alien Investigation), my Mentors for Rent partner Lisa Bullard, Marsha Wilson Chall, and so many other wonderful writers.
It sounds exciting to me. Congratulations! Remember there are English speakers everywhere. They will love your book!
True, Linda! And even a British version would just be cool :>) Thanks for the shot of confidence.
