I have a guest post up today at the SCBWI blog, and it’s all about how I’m using my role as a panelist on a Cybils committee to learn about a certain genre and improve my writing. And how you can use any awards list this way, too! Blogger Lee Wind receives my A Writer Can Be… newsletter?and asked if he could share this article from it–yippee! I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to any comments or questions over there.
You are so smart, organized, thoughtful and kind, Laura. This is a very helpful list of ideas. Definitely worth thinking hard about. You are also amazingly generous. Thank you.
Thanks, Janet–so fun to see you in Boston!

Props for talking up the Cybils! We always need new folks excited about being involved, and now there’s ANOTHER bonus other than free books: free learning! ?
Well, my library had most of the books, so I’ve only gotten a few review copies, largely from the self-published authors. But it’s fun taking on a new category. It’s a lot of reading, though! Don’t know how the YA judges do it! :>)
