How Much Money Does a Writer Make – Webinar

I blog mostly for educators, but I know some of you are also children’s writers. So I wanted to share that I’m offering a webinar later this month called How Much Money Does a Writer Make?

And let me stop right here to say, how much money a writer makes is NOT the most important thing about a writer’s life! But it’s the thing hardly anybody talks about in cold, hard numbers publicly. And if you have bills to pay, it’s an important topic, so that you can be realistic and knowledgeable about your own field (or the field you’re hoping to work in). I have a lonnnnnnnnnng history of sharing my income figures online, and this past year I’ve spoken on this topic at Hamline University and the Twin Cities Picture Book Salon. I’ve decided to try to reach a larger audience, and I’m going to talk about realistic numbers for a working children’s writer, my books’ sales numbers, royalty reports, and more. I’ll be talking about when money matters and when it doesn’t, discussing the concept of income streams, and introducing you to income streams that work well for children’s authors. Then I’ll answer any questions (which you can submit in advance or ask live at the session). If you can’t make it live, you’ll have access to the recording until mid-February.

I’m hoping to offer a whole series of webinars for children’s writers, including ones on both the business and the craft side of things, but we’ll see how this first one goes! I have 6 people registered as I write this, and I’d love to get to 25 people!
