Hi!

Thanks for your interest in receiving A Writer Can Be…, my monthly eletter for children’s writers. When you subscribe, you’ll receive a welcome email right away.

The next day, you’ll get my download “So You Want to Write for Kids: 6 Tips for Getting Started” (plus a video). That download also includes 5 of my most popular past articles:

  • 3 Picture Book Idea Sparkers
  • Is Your Picture Book Manuscript Too Quiet?
  • Do Authors Have Any Say in Picture Book Art?
  • Do You Have to Have an Agent?
  • How Much Money Does One Book Earn?

In my newsletter, I share tips for children’s writers on topics like school visits, negotiating with publishers, market research, writing picture books, and all sorts of other things. I try to be useful and inspiring, but give you the real facts of being a children’s writer. My books have earned some lovely honors, but I’m still working hard with bookstore books, work-for-hire books, occasional magazine/journal publications, occasional indie-publishing directly for teachers, and lots and lots of school visits, speaking, and teaching. I love sharing what works and what doesn’t work for me with other people who want to write for kids! You can learn more about me and my work at laurasalas.com.

I only send one eletter per month, and I’ll never sell or share your email address or information. If you’d like to subscribe, just enter your email address and click Sign Up.

Thank you! Laura

JANUARY NEWS

I loved the holidays! And I'm so glad they're over. A quiet, snowy January is just what I need. This month, I'm working on two board book manuscripts, and I'm making materials to go with my 3 spring 2023 books.

I'm also busy prepping for upcoming author visits and setting my goals and priorities for 2023. Wishing you a lovely start to your own new year!
