Next Wednesday will be the start of Write After Reading: Living the Life Poetic, a weekly online book club with poetry participation. It will alternate between my blog and Susan Taylor Brown’s blog and I hope you’ll be able to join us.
Several of you have said you’ve ordered your copy and are ready to get started–YAY!
Although we’ll jump to a different favorite chapter each week, we thought it would make sense to start with Chapter One. However, Chapter One has no Try This! poetry exercises. So, I’m going to jump right in as the hard teacher (the one you don’t want your senior year) and propose that we read Chapters One (Why Read and Write Poetry?) AND Three (Start Where You Are: Diving Deep Into the Ordinary) for next Wednesday. The chapters are short and easy to read, I promise. You might even find it hard to stop reading!
You can do some of the exercises if you want–or not. No obligation. Next Wednesday, I’ll post my brief thoughts/reactions to the chapters and start a conversation. I’ll also choose one Try This! to share and ask each of us to actually Try it and share the results:>) Can’t wait to dive in next week! |
