Author Visits

Hi, teachers, librarians, home-schoolers, and educators/book lovers of all kinds! For standard, one-day school visits, I am primarily offering virtual visits via Zoom.

Laura on a 2023 virtual visit

Though if you have something special going on and want to check about an in-person visit, just get in touch and we’ll chat. And for info on library storytimes (including a video intro), go here.

I’m a Minnesota children’s author with a passion for reading and writing. I’m grateful to share that passion with students, educators, and other writers. I’ve presented at more than a 150 schools, libraries, book festivals, writing conferences, and educator conferences, and my goals are always to

  • inspire more reading and writing
  • be as interactive as possible
  • share practical tips for writers of all ages
  • empower reluctant readers and writers

I think my superpower as a visiting author is helping kids (and educators) see that they ARE readers and writers and creators.

Here’s a video that highlights a bit of my virtual visit approach:

And here’s a downloadable, printable bifold brochure jam-packed with details about my virtual visits.

A virtual visit is 3 sessions, and the cost is $600. (If you found me at Literacy on the Concho 2023, mention that for a discounted fee!) Make sure to check out the printable brochure above to see what all that includes!

Want to talk about a visit? Just fill out this brief Google form, and I’ll get in touch with you!

I’m in the midst of a website overhaul, so this page is in flux. Below are some images and videos (all shared with permission) from some past visits and events.

In this super short video on Twitter, kindergartners and first graders shout out “This is where we belong!” as we read our collaborative We Belong poem.

SEPTEMBER NEWS

Whee! It's fall, the time of fresh starts. I'm busy working with a web designer to redesign my site--yikes. That's a big project. But I started off the month with a family visit in Florida, which was great. Now I'm prepping for a fall-themed storytime at the South St. Paul Library on Sep. 26 at 10:30 a.m. Hope you can come!
