Zap! Clap! Boom!

Morning’s calm. Outside is still. A blue-forever day until…

Reviews & More

  • [STARRED review] Booklist: “Fluid, rhyming text…well-researched back matter.”
  •  School Library Journal: “The book is a perfect read-aloud…Don’t miss the thunder science section at the end—a gift.”
  •  The Horn Book: “It begs to be read aloud.”
  • Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books: “Salas’ text is lively and lyrical…With eye-catching art and lines that roll off the tongue, this book would be well-suited to raucous but stealthily informative science-based story hour.”
  • [Best Books This Week] Shelf Awareness: “Salas imbues the stormy scene with a Halloweeny menace: “Wind blows fiercely,/ howls/ and shrieks./ The world/ groans slowly,/ shivers,/ creaks”; MacKay uses bruise-like purples and blues to capture nature at its fiercest.”
  • Kirkus Reviews: “A crashing success.”
  • Erin Dealey: Book birthdays and 7 Questions
  • Pioneer Press: Literary Pick

SEPTEMBER NEWS

Whee! It's fall, the time of fresh starts. I'm busy working with a web designer to redesign my site--yikes. That's a big project. But I started off the month with a family visit in Florida, which was great. Now I'm prepping for a fall-themed storytime at the South St. Paul Library on Sep. 26 at 10:30 a.m. Hope you can come!
