This year, time just feels like a flooded river rushing by. I didn’t do much wrap-up of the end of the year, and I am ill-prepared for the start of the year. Oh, well! I thought I’d just share a few things about my writing life and what I plan to do here on the blog.
Poetry Friday
I want to get more solidly reconnected with the Poetry Friday community! I hope to share a poem most Fridays and get around to visiting some blogs.
#20for20
Inspired by Marcie Flinchum Atkins and her list of writing 20 places in 2020, I want to write poems in 20 different spots throughout the year. I’m open for suggestions from people!
Books, Writing, and What They Mean to Me
I love poetry. Love. It. But the reality is that, aside from 2019!, poetry books are the minority of what I get published. So I want to try to share a bit more regularly about my writing life and process, especially as my two 2020 picture books are a rhyming fictionalized story of a loon’s first summer (based completely on fact, though) and a totally fictional prose story of Clover Kitty, who is overwhelmed by kittygarten.
And that’s it! I haven’t picked a word for 2020. I have made a whole boat-load of both personal goals and writing goals. But I’m just trying to look at three concrete things I hope to do on my blog this year. Thanks for being here!

Love the idea of writing 20 poems in 20 different spots. I think I’ll be giving that a go, too. I’m looking forward to seeing you more often in the poetry friday community, and I can’t wait to help you celebrate and promote your upcoming books 🙂 Happy New Year!
Excellent! I just made my list of 20 places I’m going to aim for. Happy we’ll be trying this together, sort of! Happy 2020, Kimberly!
Looking forward to writing along with you this year, Laura. Thanks for always inspiring me! Cheers! — Christie
Happy 2020 dear Laura! “kittygarden” sounds sweet & purr-fect. And happy travels with the new project
20 poems in 20 places. Best words, best places to you!
