It’s almost time for school to begin—in one form or another! As a kid, one of my favorite things about school was spending time in the library (these were the days before media centers!). I’m so sad that this year, many school districts facing financial hardship have laid off librarians and media specialists. I’ve worked closely with many of these amazing people for my author visits. As you head back to school, I hope you’ll be vocal in your support for school librarians. And whether you’re counting on your school library or your public library for back-to-school books, I hope you’ll find Clover Kitty Goes to Kittygarten (Two Lions, illus by Hiroe Nakata) and give it a whirl.

Plus, here’s a roundup of 20 kindergarten back-to-school books!

And consider this post early encouragement to get your public library card if you don’t already have one :>) Next month is Library Card Sign-Up Month!
