When you’re studying colors and/or weather, check out my How to Make a Rainbow. I featured this book at a storytime recently, and the kids had fun identifying some of the objects of each color. Then we did a little motion song to the tune of “Farmer in the Dell.”
If you are wearing [green]
If you are wearing [green]
Stand up tall and turn around
and sit yourself back down.
The kids kept coming back: “We didn’t do teal! We didn’t do rainbow! We didn’t do beige.” Etc. Funny how many colors they know! And depending on the kids and their abilities, you can change up the actions. Like:
Touch your nose and nod your head…
Wave your hands and bark out loud…
Skip around the classroom now…
There’s also a cute rainbow art activity here! Enjoy!
