I love wordplay (no surprise there), and I’m always surprised at how many idioms I come across related to any topic I research.
When I was writing If You Want to Knit Some Mittens, I toyed with the idea of putting a bunch of sheep and knitting puns and idioms into the book. I didn’t do that—it already had enough layers to keep straight! But illustrator Angela Matteson and I did create a fun activity sheet for teachers and librarians and parents.
Just click here (or on the image above) and you can download it in two shakes of a lamb’s tail! Mwah-haha! And for more downloadable and auxiliary materials for this book, just go here!
That’s all my Classroom Connections for 2021! Happy holidays, and I’ll see you in 2022 with more classroom activities and resources!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
