9 Beautiful Nature Picture Books, Plus Uncertainty, Writing During Lockdown, and Art Surprises

June 7, 2023 By Laura

It’s my final Classroom Connections for the schoolyear! Thanks for reading:>)

In April, I helped organize a virtual group book launch party. It was a blast, and some of you were there! Thank you so much for coming!

Red Balloon, my local indie bookshop who kindly hosted the event, sent me the video, and I’m happy to share it with you here. I had already read most of the books talked about, but it was awesome to hear the book creators talk about their stories. Each person talks for just 2 minutes per book, and this video should be a fun watch and a great resource for you if you’re looking for new, beautiful nature-related picture books for your library. Thanks !

And here are excerpts of my little 2-minute talks about Finding Family (uncertainty and writing during lockdown) and Zap! Clap! Boom! (what surprised me about the art?). But honestly, you don’t want to miss any of these gorgeous books!

And just a reminder. If you order books from Red Balloon, I’m always happy to go sign and personalize any of my books.

[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]

SEPTEMBER NEWS

Whee! It's fall, the time of fresh starts. I'm busy working with a web designer to redesign my site--yikes. That's a big project. But I started off the month with a family visit in Florida, which was great. Now I'm prepping for a fall-themed storytime at the South St. Paul Library on Sep. 26 at 10:30 a.m. Hope you can come!
