Well, I had planned to share this book because I saw that National Family Week is coming up next month, but as I read more, I realized that that’s just a conservative political campaign of intolerance. Forget that! I hope in your own unit on family, you focus on diversity and love and support, not on gender or traditionalism.
My book Meet My Family explores the many social structures of animals—and you’ll see parallels to all kinds of human families, too.
More resources to go with this book are here.
And a couple of other family-themed picture books I’ve enjoyed recently are Nana Akua Goes to School and I Am a Baby.
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
