A while back, I wrote a series of articles about writing poetry. They’re aimed at people who want to write children’s poems, but they’re also very handy for teachers!
They’re called Poetic Pursuits, and here’s where you can find them!
I cover everything from poetic forms, such as diamantes and poems for two voices, to poetic elements, like metaphor and alliteration, to finding ideas. While these articles aren’t aimed directly at kids, they’re full of poems and information a teacher can use, and they’re definitely suitable for older students who want to explore more about poetry.
Happy writing!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]

Laura, thank you so much for posting all the above treasures! I have added this post to my favorites bar so I can go back and read. Hopefully, I won’t forget.
