My most recent author visit was with Pipestone Elementary School. I had such a wonderful virtual time with them. We talked and moved and wrote and connected. I was so tickled to get a lovely packet from Marcy Schmitke, the school librarian. I love how each grade level was inspired by the session we did. K‑1 students (weather) wrote their names in clouds. Students in grades 2–3 (the creative process) jazzed up their names in a creative fashion. And students in grades 4–5 (equation poems) sent me equation poems about me and about them. I loved reading through these! When you send thank yous after visiting with an author, you make their day. Trust me!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
