Use a Countdown Calendar to Ease Back-to-School Anxiety

July 15, 2020 By Laura

[Guess what? Author/artist Lydia Lukidis is also featuring Clover Kitty on her blog today–with ANOTHER chance for a giveaway! Plus backstory and writing process info. You can check it out here!)

Is your child anxious about starting school? (Or are you?!) Check out the cute countdown calendar I created to go with my new picture book, Clover Kitty Goes to Kittygarten (illus. by Hiroe Nakata, Two Lions).

A Back to School Countdown calendar It’s great for getting ready for the school year and for reflecting on school days once school starts. More about Clover Kitty here.

And Clover Kitty’s free or deeply discounted this month as an Amazon First Reads pick!

[My Classroom Connections posts will share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]

JUNE NEWS

Like a phoenix (except more loon shaped), the loon storytime featuring Laura Purdie Salas and Yvonne Pearson rises again! Come join us on Tuesday, June 6, at 2 p.m. We'll be at the Nordic Center at Lake Elmo Regional Park, ready to read, sing, and walk like loons! More info at the Washington Co. Library website.

LOTS of family stuff going on this month. Some of it's bad, like Covid and other unwelcome things, and some of it's great, like our daughter Maddie moving back to the U.S.! With all the extra things to do, I'm struggling with writing time. Things will calm down. Right?
