Oh my gosh. After a rough year last year, I’ve had such a lovely whirlwind of good news recently. I think I already shared that Finding Family is a Charlotte Zolotow Honor book(!) and and Eureka Gold Medal book(!). Zowie! Now I’ve learned the it’s also a CCBC Choices book and a Finalist for the Minnesota Book Award! I am SO grateful for these recognitions, which might help this quiet, thoughtful nonfiction picture book find its own family of readers! And what a thrill to see this book sitting among so many other books I love, whose creators I admire. Thank you for all the kind comments on social media–I’m catching up on replies :>)
Holy moly! My family and I went for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
And…I have invitations for you! One is virtual and one’s in person. My World Read Aloud Day slots are all full, but illustrator Kayla Harren and I are doing a free Zoom with classrooms to celebrate Oskar’s Voyage.
And if you’re in the Twin Cities, we hope you’ll join us both at Red Balloon in St. Paul for our storytime book launch!
