Kids and grown-ups alike are usually curious about how a book gets its start. Here’s half of what I have on my Oskar’s Voyage page (I have similar info on each book page):
It was the best research of my entire life! Speaking of research, you know Melissa Stewart’s amazing blog, right? (If not, get over there immediately!) She has a whole series of guest posts from nonfiction authors sharing “My Favorite Research Story.” If Oskar’s Voyage had been published when I wrote my contribution, you’d better believe I’d have been telling tales of my Great Lakes adventure! Anyway, these posts are so cool for writers of all ages to read or hear.
Have fun reading! And look for more resources related to Oskar’s Voyage on my book page!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
