There is hardly anything a writer likes better than hearing/seeing how readers respond to her work. A writer friend sent me this fun image a few weeks ago. Her sister is a substitute teacher in New Hampshire, and she used A Leaf Can Be… with first graders. They were studying the number 9, and the “worm hider” is for poison ivy.
Always grateful for teachers who take my books and help kids connect those books to the real world!

This is wonderful. I came upon your book in the library a few weeks ago, and just loved it. I have some little folks in my life that I give books to each Christmas, and this one will definitely be on the list.
Aw, thank you, Jean!
