Yuck! Kids know how fun it is to be grossed out! This book shows the foods different young animals like to eat, and they all seem pretty disgusting. Then it ends with a reversal about what those animals think about human food. This made me think of one of my favorite childhood/teen sandwiches–grilled peanut butter and sharp cheddar cheese–with garlic. Yep. I loved it. Made it for myself several times a week for years. In fact, I would probably still eat it today, except I’d rather spend those calories on cupcakes:>) The meter of my poetryaction is clunky at the end, and maybe I should have made up a different sandwich. I just couldn’t turn my back on my own yucky favorite, though!

If this delectable treat inspires a poem from you, Laura, I’m going to have to try it! (The peanut butter and cheese–I’ve already sampled worms! 🙂
Euuuw. I have NOT sampled worms. Peanut butter and cheese is as far as I go. I once nibbled on a grasshopper/chocolate chip cookie. Shudder. Funny how culturally acclimated I am. Other animals–yes. Bugs. Worms. No. Way.
