Twisted

June 5, 2008 By Laura

This week’s Friday’s 40 at Pensieve is a great image! I love pictures of branches and trees. I’m not feeling great, but I want to participate. So, here goes…a little poem skeleton:

Before School

perched on a stool
encircled by Mom’s knees
as she

pulled
tugged
turned

braiding order
into my hair
into my life

–by Laura Purdie Salas

It’s not too late to play! Check out the pic and write your own 40 Words or Less entry (poetry or prose).

Interested in writing children’s nonfiction books for the educational market? These are books you write on assignment for a publisher, and the books are sold mainly to school libraries. I’ve written more than 40 books for the educational market, and I’m offering my monthlong online workshop again this summer. Read all about it here!

SEPTEMBER NEWS

Whee! It's fall, the time of fresh starts. I'm busy working with a web designer to redesign my site--yikes. That's a big project. But I started off the month with a family visit in Florida, which was great. Now I'm prepping for a fall-themed storytime at the South St. Paul Library on Sep. 26 at 10:30 a.m. Hope you can come!
