I’m in a little disarray, but I think today is the day that the fabulous Michelle Schaub is sharing a poem video from me in her awesome series, Poem Share. And even if it’s not my day, check out whatever wonderful things she is sharing! 🙂
Now, my skinny. Gosh, I didn’t really expect this month’s poems to be quite such a poetry diary. And yet so far I’ve mostly focused on our travels in Oregon. And now, I’ve got a family health crisis in Florida. It all goes back to that sandwich generation poem I shared. I’m back out of state, spending my days touring assisted living and memory care facilities, talking with doctors, trying to support my sister who does most of my dad’s care, etc., but I’m going to keep up my daily poems best I can. Here’s today’s.
Thanks for reading, and if you want to see more of my National Poetry Month poems, click here.

I am traveling this same road. I’m in my hometown trying to get the courage to visit my mother who has late stage Alzheimer’s. Nothing prepares you for this. Just know you are not alone.
Sorry you are going through this, Laura. I had to do the same six months ago. It’s hard and stressful. Take care of yourself!
Laura, I’m so sorry — hugs to you. It’s hard in so many ways.
Thinking of you, too, Margaret.

Sending you hugs, Laura, and hope all goes as easily as possible. It’s such a hard stage of life for everyone in the family.
