I was thinking about writing a poem for Carol Hinz’ Ditty of the Month challenge–write about something not typically considered beautiful. (More info on this in my Poetry Friday post this coming Friday if you aren’t familiar with this.) I was thinking about bald heads, and how many people (especially women) still feel ugly when they lose their hair due to cancer treatment. But I always see those bald heads as such a sign of strength, and I think others do, too. So here’s my Bald Head #poemsketch. Dedicating this to all the strong people I know who have gone through cancer treatment and fought to stay in this amazing world, including my mom, Randy’s dad, and so many friends.

This is lovely.
THanks, Sara :>)
I think you found more than beauty with this one, Laura. This is wonderful—so life-affirming. xo
Thanks, Michelle. It was a great prompt :>)
Laura,
I have 6 people on my cancer prayer list and I am writing to them each week. Do I have your permission to print out your poem and send it to them? This is just what they need to read!
Absolutely, Margaret! I would be honored.
