Hello, and welcome! This is 15 Words or Less Poems, a low-pressure way to wake up your poetry brain (guidelines here), and I’m very glad you’re here.
While my sister Patty was up this past week, we indulged in way too many sweet treats. Like this scrummy cookie from Byerly’s.
This image makes me think of several things:
- How much we NEED bees for our world’s food supply
- In close proximity, though, I prefer bees made of frosting
- His face reminds me of Frosty the Snowman, but those two creatures would never meet
And here’s my first draft. I was VERY annoyed at my own 15-word rule this week.
It’s your turn! Have fun and stick to 15 WORDS OR LESS! (Title doesn’t count toward word count.)
Notice: My daughter Maddie is in town for June before heading back overseas to continue her mission work. Whee! But that means I am not on my blog much. I basically won’t be responding to poems in June, but I’ll continue sharing image prompts so that you can still play. Have fun!

Good morning all. Laura, hope you are enjoying your respite and thanks for thinking of us during your special time. Your cookie shouts summer in all its glory.
Summer’s Arrival
Bees a‑buzz
flowers await
sun is out
time to POLLINATE!
I love the energy and fun in your poem.
Thank you Lauren. Our yard is “a‑buzz” and I couldn’t resist, especially after seeing the flowers on the cookie along with the bee!
Hardworking
honeybees
making all
the sweets
we eat
I like how you started with “hardworking” for those busy honeybees.
Your picture reminded me of the time my daughter baked bee-shaped cookies. But that refused to become a poem this morning. This came to mind instead:
It’s my flowered
shirt you see.
So, bee, please
leave me be.
Lauren, your verse hit home as I am allergic to bee stings. I dress “blah” and wear no scents. 😉
Love the Frosty/Bee connection, Laura. Enjoy your family time–
Hive Talk
What’s the buzzzzzz?
asked new bee.
Nectar to sip,
a sea of sweet peas!
With my hand
in the cookie jar,
I praise the bees
and the honey
Yummy!
This is sweet, Margaret. Like it lots.
Oh my! This poem has 16 words. Forgive my verbosity!
Long day, hot sun
Yellow pollen, busy fields
Heavy legs, tired bee
Hive home, honey dreams
Have a wonderful visit with your family

Teacher says
paint with imagination
dipping my thumb into the moon
a million glowing bees
light up my page
I’m queen of
bumblebees
lots of giggles
AS SWEET AS THE HONEY IT MAKES
If only a bee
could chirp
like a bird.
Its song would
be sweet
as any
you’ve heard.
I’m late, I know… I loved your opposite take on this! What a great looking cookie!
Beeware
Beehold the cookie
Beedevilingly sweet
Becomes lunch -
Beeutiful crunch
Beetwixt teeth -
Beestly caloric
Load beestowed.

A Happy Landing

A honey bee
gliding around
the sticky cookie
Lands on the frosting flowers.
STUCK!
I really love everyone poems today 🙂
Bee-utiful little 15 word ditty Laura!
Watch over bees
wherever we bee
in meadows, or cities,
you need US, you see!
