Hello, and welcome! This is 15 Words or Less Poems, a low-pressure way to wake up your poetry brain (guidelines here), and I’m very glad you’re here.
I love that even in a townhome very near a city’s downtown, I can look out my window and most days catch glimpses of birds, squirrels, butterflies and more.
This image taken through my kitchen window makes me think of several things:
- “4, 3, 2, 1. Ready or not, here I come!”
- slippery surfaces
- what would happen to a bird afraid of plants?
And here’s my first draft. The tone of the title doesn’t match the tone of the poem, but…that’s a first draft for you!
It’s your turn! Have fun and stick to 15 WORDS OR LESS! (Title doesn’t count toward word count.)

Good morning. First image for me was a tiny lump behind a drapery, little feet shining for all the world to see! Your “hide-and-seek prompted the verse.
